Earlier this year when we were without a helper, there was a day when daddy had to handle the kids alone – either out to class or out for dinner – while mummy was at home.
I recalled the boys coming home happily, each with a small haversack (something I would never expect HIM to buy). Together with it, the daddy bought some small packs of wet tissues, mosquito repellent wipes.
“From now onwards whenever we go out, you will have to pack your own “GAI GAI” bag. We are not going to carry anything for you. If you want to bring toys, drop it in and carry them on your own ……..”
I am impressed by the daddy! It was a win-win for us – the parents for letting go & the children for picking up the responsibility.
The children are never too young to be taking up responsibility.
